1.Take a cable car to the summit of Mount Teide
Address: Tenerife
Drive up through the winding mountain roads to the huge central volcano that dominates the island of Tenerife. At a height of 3,718 metres, the summit of El Teide is not only the highest point in Tenerife but also of the entire the Canary Islands. At the summit you can enjoy spectacular views – on a clear day you can see to the coast of North Africa! The peak is accessible via cable car. If you don’t have your own transport take an organised excursion which can be arranged with your tour operator.
2.Party in Playa de las Americas

With row upon row of British pubs and souvenir shops, Playa de las Americas is Tenerife’s largest resort and a home from home in the sun for many British tourists. Here you will find enough bars, restaurants and activities to keep you busy from morning till night. If you’re looking to party then this is the place - with a real party atmosphere pumping from the many karaoke bars and discos each night.
3.Visit the giant cliffs at Los Gigantes
Address: Santiago del Teide, Tenerife
The town of Los Gigantes lies at the base of the imposing cliffs (The Giants) of the same name. The dramatic cliffs are a result of Tenerife’s volcanic activity and are the most ancient part of the island. Los Gigantes is a very pretty town with beautiful scenery - the perfect place to relax!
4.Explore the capital Santa Cruz

The bustling capital of Tenerife is the perfect place to pick up a bargain. Whilst it has excellent shopping facilities and waterfront restaurants it is not a traditional tourist destination, but does make an excellent base from which to discover the beautiful scenery of Tenerife’s north east shores.
5.Splash about at Aquapark
Address: Near Playa de las Americas, Tenerife
Take the kids to this popular waterpark with its slides, shutes and flumes! The park boasts a Dolphin lake and show, restaurants, shops and children’s area. A free shuttle bus operates from the centre of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos.
6.Watch a parrot show at Loro Parque Zoo
Address: Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife
With the biggest collection of parrots in the world, a botanical gardens and impressive zoo the Loro Parque is another great Tenerife attraction to take the family. There are live shows throughout the day including a dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows.
7.Wander the quaint streets of Garachico
Address: Garachio, Tenerife
This historical town is full of character and charm. Wander through its maze of quaint streets and delightful squares. There are also a few museums to discover.
8.Visit the dragon tree in Icod de los Vinos
Address: Icod de los Vinos, Tenerife
Located on the north coast, Icod de los Vinos is one of the Tenerife’s most visited towns. It is famed for its dragon tree - believed to be the world’s oldest at over 1000 years old. Other popular attractions include the church of San Marcos with its magnificent silver cross. Nature lovers will enjoy the Mariposario de Drago - a tropical butterfly garden.
9.See mummies in the Museo de la Naturaleza y El Hombre
Address: Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife
This natural history museum has fascinating displays of the artefacts and mummified remains of the pre-hispanic dwellers of Tenerife. The museum offers good facilities including a café, library, shops and gardens. Open Tuesdays to Sundays, closed Monday.
10.Set sail on a boat trip
Address: Playa de las Americas, Tenerife
There are many boat trips available from the Tenerife’s southern shores. Choose from a range of trips include shark and marlin fishing, whale or dolphin watching trips or beach parties and booze cruises. Most boat trips depart from Tenerife’s main resort of Playa de las Americas.
