1.Visit the traditional fishing village of El Cotillo
Address: near Corralejo, Fuerteventura
Head to the west coast to visit the small charming village of El Cotillo. The doors of the houses here are all painted either blue or green. The men of the households with blue doors work at sea. Those with green doors work on the land. The sandy coves nearby have rock pools and are backed by dunes and cliffs.
2.Marvel at Roja or Red Mountain
Address: near Corralejo, Fuerteventura
This beautiful mountain is located beside the coast road. The slopes of this ancient volcanic cone are a vibrant mix of red, orange and pink - a stark contrast to the turquoise and blue of the ocean it overlooks.
3.Enjoy the beach life at Corralejo Sands
Address: Corralejo, Fuerteventura
No sooner have you passed Red Mountain than the russet rocks suddenly give way to white sands - 10 km of them in drifting dunes which span the coast road approaching the lively resort of Corralejo. It’s not hard here to find a quiet stretch of beach to relax on. And what a beach! Just park the car and make your way through the dunes and hardy vegetation to find your own idyllic spot. But do be careful to park your car on the hard standing or you could find yourself axle-deep in sand.
4.Take a trip off the island to Isla de Lobos

Corralejo is a lively resort with some good value shops and great restaurants. Corralejo is also great for island hopping and for families. The uninhabited Isla de Lobos lies just a couple of miles offshore - a great place for a day’s sunbathing and snorkelling. And Lanzarote is only eight miles away with ferry services and excursions operating daily. Don’t miss the chance to visit the Timanfaya National Park - a unique volcanic region known as the Fire Mountains, which last erupted in 1824.
5.Indulge yourself in a spa treatment at Caleta de Fustes
Address: Corralejo, Fuerteventura
Caleta de Fustes, midway down the east coast, is particularly popular with young families. It has a man-made bay fringed with palms, a play park for children, and a new thalassotherapy spa centre and golf course to tempt their parents.
6.Laze about on the beaches of Jandia Peninsula
Address: Jandia, Fuerteventura
If beaches are your family’s idea of holiday heaven, then the Jandia peninsula at the southern tip of the island has it all - 40 km of white sands stretching from Costa Calma to Morro Jable with all the amenities of modern, fast-growing resorts and modern luxury hotels. And whilst the bathing is safe here for children, Jandia is also a mecca for windsurfers.
7.Visit the Canarian Arts Centre
Address: La Oliva, Fuerteventura
Stop in some of the sleepy whitewashed villages and step inside the cool interior of the village church. Watch craftsmen and women doing exquisite embroidery and basket weaving, and visit restored windmills and farmhouses for a glimpse of traditional island life. The Canarian Arts Centre and cactus gardens at La Oliva are well worth a visit and so too is the windmill and craft centre of El Molino at Antigua.
8.Meet an animal at La Lajita Zoo
Address: La Lajita, Fuerteventura
Home to a small selection of animals La Lajita Zoo is a sure fire winner in keeping the kids entertained. Enjoy a parrot show, horse ride or camel safari. The village surrounding the zoo also has a good selection of restaurants and bars for a great family holiday day out.
9.Fly a kite in La Playa del Burro, Corralejo
Address: La Playa del Burro, Corralejo
La Playa del Burro is the location of the Kite festival which attracts kite flyers from around the world. Sunday is a day for all the family as 150 kites are handed out to children. You can also take part in raffles, watch spectacular aerial warfare shows and after dinner firework displays. The Kite festival takes place in November each year.
10.Try kiteboarding

Fuerteventura is renowned for its excellent sports facilities including windsurfing, surfing, kiteboarding, golf, sailing and much more. Adrenaline junkies with love the world kiteboarding championships held in July & August.
